We're Here!

We arrived in Seoul at 10:30pm (8:30am CST) last night. 20 minutes after landing, we were already amazed by the kindness of the Korea people. We left one of our bags at the currency exchange and didn't realize it until we were getting on the (last) bus taking us to the Guesthouse. The busdriver spoke very little english, but managed to let me know he'd wait 5 minutes for us to get our luggage.

We got on the bus and rode a little over an hour before we reached our stop. We got off and were looking at a map at the bus stop when a university student came right up and asked us if he could help. He discovered for us that we were not in the right area and quickly figured out where we needed to go. He found a cab for us and told the driver our story and where we needed to get to. The taxi driver did the rest, finding the Guesthouse at about 1:00am.

We rang the buzzer and a kind gentleman got out of bed to let us in. He told us our schedule for the next day and showed us to our room, telling us a little bit about himself in the process. We'd never have known that we'd awakened him, except that he told us. He was as nice as he could be!

At 9:30 this morning, our Korean social worker picked us up and took us to meet Taebin at his foster mom's apartment. We rode over in virtual silence trying to grasp the enormity of the upcoming hour we could spend with him.

As the apartment door opened, emotion washed over us and Foster Mom handed Taebin over for us to hold. His beautiful brown eyes looked up at me with wonder as the tears came and I showered him with kisses. He is a very handsome boy who can crawl well and pulls himself up. He's very curious and was into everything we brought, not so different than his big sister was at this age. By the time we left, we were all playing games and singing songs...just wonderful.

The hour went by much too fast, and we said our goodbyes and learned that he will be turned over to our care on Tuesday afternoon. We are so blessed to have Taebin join our family. Another active, curious, persistant family member...he fits right in.

YEAH! I'm so happy for you guys and glad your first meeting with Taebin went so well. Only a few days until you will have him permanently ensconced in your arms! I, meanwhile, am still playing the waiting game...we'll see if I can make anything happen before Tuesday :) Enjoy your trip and keep blogging - it's so much fun to hear about your adventure! Karen
