It's Monday and I'm Tired

Kind Korean Story: Korea has a "travelphone" which is a hotline tourists can call to get information on all sorts of things. They helped us determine which way would be the quickest to Suwon and the Korean Folk Village...the bus.

We picked up the bus and screwed it up, of course, right off the bat. We couldn't figure out what the fare was and the bus driver, while pretty darn patient with us, did have a schedule to keep. Nonetheless, we got to the Korean Folk Village just fine. The guidebook describes it as "a living museum that recreates the lifestyle of several senturies ago." It was sort of the Korean version of Old World Wisconsin. There were lots of living quarters to explore; some from different parts of the country, some with wealthy occupants, some commoners. There were some performances to see: a Korean wedding ceremony, a horse show, Korean drummers, and acrobats (who had the day off). We checked out a non-functional government building and an active temple. It was peaceful and quiet along a river; I guess most people were working today. We spent some time at the temple, which quieted our souls even more. Walking out into the city again was a bit of a rude awakening!

We caught the bus back to Seoul and went to the mall for dinner. We had leftovers, which were wrapped up in a box with a ribbon on it, tied in a pretty bow. All the packaging here is so pretty...even for leftovers. We went to Bandi & Luni's Bookstore, where we found an enormous chilren's section and bought some Korean books for our kids (hee hee...it's fun to say that now) and a couple of Asian cookbooks.

That's about all I've got for tonight...I'm tired and heading to bed early. It's my last kid-less night and I need to take advantage of it! Tomorrow will be a great, great day, but it will be very tough for Taebin, Foster Mom and us. If you have a second to send some positive thoughts this way, we'd all appreciate it!

The process of love sometimes demands strength and courage in order to be proven. You and Steve are a team. Rely upon one another.

It'll be tough in the short term, but just remember what a gift you are giving Taebin - a loving, forever family. Positive energy heading your way from me.

Good luck during your first day together and enjoy your time together in Korea! Stay positive if things get tough as things will continue to get better the more you get to know each other.
