There was a tragedy in our neighborhood this week. A terrible one, with firetrucks, squadcars, reporters, detectives and that yellow "police line do not cross" ribbon tied up everywhere. As soon as I got the news, I was flooded with the need to be close to my daughter. In fact, I came home to check on poor Jazzmine (who, to our great surprise, was handling all the hoopla just fine) and then I zipped off to pick her up.
The bad stuff happened nowhere near her daycare. There was no reason she'd be in danger there. Yet, I wanted her close to me. Where I could run my fingers through her hair and smell her baby smell.
These new mom-feelings come out of nowhere!
